Coinbase will suspend its peso-based services in Argentina approximately one year after launching in the active Latin American crypto market. The exchange formally notified users that Argentine peso-to-USDC trading will cease on January 31, 2026, as reported by Forbes Argentina.

After the cutoff date, users will no longer be able to buy or sell USDC using Argentine pesos or withdraw funds to local bank accounts. A company spokesperson characterized the move as “a deliberate pause that allows us to reassess and strengthen our approach.”

Crypto-to-crypto trading will remain operational for Argentine customers, and all user funds are secure. Customers have been given a 30-day window to finalize any peso-based transactions before the service pause takes effect.

The suspension marks a strategic shift for Coinbase, which had positioned itself as a compliance leader after receiving Virtual Asset Service Provider registration from Argentina’s National Securities Commission in January 2025. The exchange had estimated that roughly 5 million people in the country use crypto daily.
