Report: Standard Chartered Mulls Crypto Prime Brokerage
Standard Chartered is said to be planning a move into crypto prime brokerage. Such a step would mark a notable expansion for the bank within the digital assets space, as established financial players continue to enter the market.
Bloomberg reported the British bank is in early discussions to develop a cryptocurrency trading and prime brokerage platform via its SC Ventures unit. Sources indicate the plans are not finalized and a launch date remains unclear.
Standard Chartered has not confirmed the reported discussions. The bank previously introduced institutional trading services for leading cryptocurrencies in mid-2025.
The news highlights the growing institutional engagement with crypto. In a related development, Morgan Stanley filed for an Ether exchange-traded fund last week.
Separately, Bank of America recently approved four spot Bitcoin ETFs for proactive recommendation to clients, leveraging its network of over 15,000 financial advisers in the US.
