Binance Files for MiCA Approval in Greece Amid EU-Wide Regulatory Crackdown
Crypto exchange Binance has applied for a license in Greece under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), positioning itself to meet the bloc’s fast-approaching compliance deadlines.
The exchange confirmed the submission to Greece’s Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC) on Friday. “We are engaging closely with the HCMC as MiCA is implemented across the EU and are committed to supporting the sustainable development of Europe’s digital asset landscape,” a Binance spokesperson said.
This application arrives just days after France’s financial regulator, the Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF), publicly identified Binance as one of nearly 100 crypto companies operating without a MiCA license.
The AMF has warned that such firms must cease operations by July if they fail to obtain authorization before the transition period ends on June 30.
