Japan-based cryptocurrency exchange Liquid has reported its hot wallet has been hacked.
According to the platform, an unknown bad actor has stolen a total of $80 million from the platform. After the attack was known, the exchange has moved its remaining assets to a cold storage to prevent the hacker from stealing a higher amount.
The Liquid team has reported:
“We are currently investigating and will provide regular updates. In the meantime deposits and withdrawals will be suspended.”
While the exchange has not disclosed the exact amount of funds that have been stolen by the hacker, it has shared the addresses associated with him. According to them, the hacker has stolen 107.3 BTC, almost 11 million XRP and about 9 million TRX. The Ethereum wallet received 14,957 ETH and ERC-20 tokens for a total of $24.8 million.
