Tether has blacklisted three addresses on the Ethereum blockchain with USDT stablecoin assets worth over $160 million.

Now it is not possible to transfer funds from these wallets. The company has said:

“Today, at the request of law enforcement agencies, Tether has frozen three addresses on the Ethereum blockchain containing $160 million. At the moment, we cannot disclose any additional details.”

The stablecoin issuer blocked an address for the first time in November 2017, when it announced a theft of $30 million.

In July 2020, the number of blacklisted accounts reached 40. Since then, the extent of the asset freeze has increased markedly – at the moment, the figure stands at 563 addresses.

The company has earlier said they regularly cooperate with law enforcement officers.
