The Canadian branch of audit firm KPMG has recently announced it has purchased Bitcoin and Ethereum using the Gemini Trust Company service, Coindesk has reported. The company has refused to disclose the volume of investments in the crypto.

KPMG Canada Crypto Asset and Blockchain Consulting Partner Kareem Sadek has said the company plans to strengthen its position in decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and metaverses.

KPMG – along with Deloitte, Ernst & Young and PwC – is one of the “big four” companies specializing in audit and consulting services.

As of February 2022, the largest holder of Bitcoin among publicly-listed companies is the software developer Microstrategy, which has accumulated 125,000 BTC worth more than $5.4 billion. The last time Microstrategy bought BTC was in January 2022.
