Tether Freezes FTX’s $46M in USDT
Tether Limited has blocked 46,370,701 USDT on the Tron blockchain, owned by FTX, at the request of law enforcement agencies.
According to representatives of the stablecoin:
“We have been ordered to temporarily freeze assets during the investigation.”
This is the first time the freeze has affected the funds of the crypto exchange.
Events around FTX have led to a temporary deviation of the USDT from parity with the US dollar.
Tether Limited CTO Paolo Ardoino has said there are no plans to rescue FTX.
According to Reuters, Sam Bankman-Fried has discussed the fundraising with TRON Foundation founder Justin Sun as well as Sequoia Capital executives, OKX and Tether Limited.
