Bill Gates is Unsure About Metaverses’ Potential

Microsoft founder Bill Gates has shown skepticism during an AMA session on Reddit about the significance of the development of Web3 and the metaverse.

One user has asked the billionaire if he now sees such a significant breakthrough technology as the Internet was in the early 2000s and he has replied:

“Artificial intelligence is a powerful thing. I don’t think Web3 was that big or the metaverse itself is revolutionary, but AI, yes, definitely.”

At the same time, he has added that he himself spends most of his time on innovations in the field of healthcare, on agriculture and other initiatives with a more short-term perspective.

Speaking to Reddit users, Gates stated in May 2022 that he prefers to invest in companies that bring real value. Cryptocurrencies do not fall into this category, he explained the absence of digital assets in the portfolio.
