Fireblocks, a crypto-custodial service provider, has revealed that a vulnerability was discovered in BitGo wallets in December 2022.

This exploit was caused by a malfunction in the ZK protocol, which allowed a potential attacker to access users’ private keys in just a few seconds of computation, bypassing all levels of protection.

The BitGo team corrected the issue and asked their customers to update to the latest version by March 17.

According to Fireblocks co-founder and CTO Idan Ofrat, the vulnerability was caused by the wallet provider not adhering to verified cryptographic standards.
