In a speech to students in Frankfurt on November 24, Christine Lagarde, the head of the European Central Bank, revealed that her son had invested in digital currencies the previous year.

Despite her warning about the volatility of Bitcoin and other virtual assets, her son went through with the investment.

Lagarde admitted that she was proven right when her son lost almost all of his funds in cryptocurrency, with over 60% of his investment being lost.

While speaking with Reuter’s, Lagarde emphasized that her opinion on the riskiness of crypto investments only grew stronger after this experience.

However, she also believes that it is not appropriate to completely prohibit individuals from investing in digital assets.

Ultimately, it is up to each individual to decide whether or not to invest in cryptocurrency, but they must be aware of its volatility and the fact that it is not backed by any government.
