The recent breach of Orbit Chain’s cross-chain bridge resulted in nearly $100 million in crypto theft for December, as reported by blockchain security firms.

PeckShield revealed that the $81.5 million exploit on Orbit Bridge marked December as the fifth-highest month for hacks in 2023.

This incident ranked as the ninth-highest hack targeting a cross-chain bridge over the past three years. Orbit Bridge, part of the Orbit Chain protocol launched in South Korea in 2018, confirmed the unauthorized breach on December 31 at 8:52 pm UTC.

On January 1, the Orbit Chain team announced efforts to freeze the stolen assets, collaborating with law enforcement agencies.
