Thailand to Block Unauthorized Crypto Platforms
The SEC of Thailand will be forwarding information regarding unlicensed cryptocurrency platforms to the relevant authorities for their eventual blocking, as announced on the regulator’s official website.
This decision was made during the government committee meeting on April 19, which focused on preventing technology-related crimes.
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society will restrict access to these platforms once approval from the court is obtained. Local users are advised by the SEC to remove their assets from these unauthorized platforms.
The blocking of these platforms is intended to aid law enforcement in preventing their use for illegal activities such as money laundering.
Similar actions have been taken by other countries, such as India and the Philippines.
