More than 800 weeks and a day has passed since Bitcoin was launched on January 3, 2009, when its very first block was created.

Now the world’s most valuable cryptocurrency has surpassed one billion in total transactions, marking a significant accomplishment.

This comes at a time when Bitcoin has been experiencing a surge in daily transactions due to new protocols like Bitcoin Ordinals and Runes, along with the introduction of Bitcoin ETFs that have boosted its market value.

While other blockchains, such as Ethereum, have also reached the one billion mark, Bitcoin’s journey has been slower at an average rate of 6 transactions per second over the past 30 days.

This milestone comes shortly after its recent halving event, proving the resilience and steady growth of the world’s first blockchain.
