DOJ, CFTC Drop Probes into Polymarket After Compliance Review
Reading Time: < 1 minute
US regulators have concluded their investigations into prediction market Polymarket without further action, sources told Bloomberg.
The DOJ and CFTC had scrutinized whether Polymarket enabled U.S. users to evade geoblocks via VPNs. The probes followed a 2022 CFTC settlement, where Polymarket paid $1.4 million and agreed to restrict US access.
Notably, Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan faced DOJ scrutiny last year, with the FBI seizing his devices. The case’s closure suggests regulators are satisfied with the platform’s compliance efforts.
