BlackRock Eyes ETH Staking as Ethereum ETFs See Record Inflows

BlackRock is pushing to add staking capabilities to its iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA), per a new SEC filing submitted by Nasdaq. The request follows the SEC’s landmark approval of the first staking crypto ETF earlier this month.
The timing aligns with surging demand—ETH ETFs posted $726.74 million in daily inflows on Wednesday, led by BlackRock’s ETHA ($499M). July’s total inflows hit $2.27 billion, the highest since launch.
Competitors like 21 Shares and Grayscale have also sought staking options, but BlackRock’s ETHA dominates with $7.9 billion in assets. Robert Mitchnick, BlackRock’s digital assets head, has hinted that SEC approval for staking could be the “next phase.”
