House Advances Landmark Crypto Legislation in Pre-Recess Push

The US House of Representatives passed three significant crypto bills on Thursday, overcoming earlier Republican resistance tied to CBDC concerns.
The votes were decisive for two bills—CLARITY (294-134) and GENIUS (308-122)—while the Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act passed narrowly (219-210).
Republicans had rallied behind the legislation as part of their “crypto week,” reflecting Donald Trump’s push for rapid crypto policy action. However, internal GOP disputes briefly delayed proceedings when some members sought explicit CBDC development bans.
Despite partisan divides, substantial Democratic support—nearly 80 votes for CLARITY and over 100 for GENIUS—helped secure passage before Congress’s August break.
