Metaplanet Doubles Down on Bitcoin with $92.5M Buy, Targets 1% Supply

Metaplanet continues to bet big on Bitcoin, purchasing another 780 BTC for $92.5 million—its latest move in a strategy that has amassed $2 billion in BTC holdings.
The Tokyo-listed company revealed an average purchase price of $118,622 per BTC in its latest acquisition, with CEO Simon Gerovich noting an all-time average cost basis of $101,030. Metaplanet now holds 17,132 BTC, placing it among the top 10 corporate Bitcoin holders worldwide.
In June, the firm revised its long-term goal, targeting over 210,000 BTC (1% of supply) by 2027. Its Bitcoin-centric business model is already paying off: Q2 revenue grew 42.4% year-over-year to 1.1 billion yen ($7.6 million).
