After months of anticipation, the Trump administration’s Working Group on Digital Assets has published its comprehensive report on cryptocurrency regulation.

The document addresses critical issues such as market classification, SEC vs. CFTC oversight, banking integration, stablecoin policies, and taxation.

Notably, the report prioritizes creating a clear “taxonomy” to distinguish between securities and commodities in crypto. It proposes shared oversight—with the CFTC handling spot markets and the SEC regulating security tokens. The authors argue that structured regulation will reinforce US dominance in digital assets.

SEC Chair Paul Atkins endorsed the recommendations, calling them “the best way to catalyze American innovation, protect investors from fraud, and maintain global capital market leadership.”
