
Metaplanet Doubles Down on Bitcoin with $54M Purchase, Eyes $3.7B Raise
Metaplanet, Japan’s leading Bitcoin treasury firm, has acquired another 463 BTC ($53.7 million) as part of its aggressive accumulation strategy.
The latest purchase brings its total holdings to 17,595 BTC, worth approximately $1.78 billion. CEO Simon Gerovich confirmed the company paid an average of $115,895 per Bitcoin in this round, with an overall average buy-in of $101,422.
The firm recently filed plans to raise ¥555 billion ($3.7 billion) through perpetual preferred shares, signaling further Bitcoin purchases ahead.
“Our mission is relentless Bitcoin accumulation,” Gerovich posted on X. “Preferred shares allow us to scale holdings while driving long-term value for shareholders.”
Metaplanet now ranks seventh among corporate Bitcoin holders globally, according to Bitcointreasuries.
