The CFTC is taking a big step toward spot crypto trading on futures platforms—a move that could reshape US crypto markets.

The agency is seeking input on how to allow spot crypto contracts on regulated exchanges (DCMs) under its existing authority.

Acting Chair Caroline Pham called for industry collaboration, saying this effort is part of the broader “Crypto Sprint” initiative, which aims to implement White House crypto recommendations.

Stakeholders have until August 18 to weigh in. If approved, this could bridge the gap between crypto spot markets and traditional derivatives trading.
