China Joins Global Pushback Against Worldcoin’s Iris-Scanning Model

China has become the latest country to raise alarms over Worldcoin’s iris-scanning operations, with its Ministry of State Security declaring the practice a national security risk.
In an official statement, the ministry accused an unnamed foreign company—matching Worldcoin’s description—of luring users with crypto rewards to harvest biometric data.
The post warned that such data collection could be exploited, endangering both citizens and state security.
The warning follows Indonesia’s suspension of Worldcoin’s operations in May, adding to growing global regulatory pushback.
