Metaplanet Doubles Down on Bitcoin with $61M Buy, Nears Top 5 Corporate Holders

Metaplanet, Japan’s leading Bitcoin treasury firm, has made another major move—acquiring 518 BTC for $61.4 million—further cementing its position among the world’s elite corporate holders of the cryptocurrency.

With this latest purchase (averaging $118,519 per BTC), Metaplanet now holds 18,113 BTC, worth approximately $1.85 billion at an average buy price of $101,911. The company recently announced plans to raise ¥555 billion ($3.7 billion) to fuel additional Bitcoin acquisitions, signaling its long-term bullish stance.

Metaplanet currently sits at #6 in global corporate Bitcoin holdings, just behind MicroStrategy, which added 155 BTC ($18M) this week, pushing its total to a staggering 628,946 BTC. As institutional demand grows, Metaplanet’s aggressive accumulation strategy highlights Bitcoin’s increasing role in corporate balance sheets.
