Notorious Teen Hacker Noah Urban Sentenced to 10 Years for Crypto.com Breach
Noah Urban, a key member of the Scattered Spider cybercriminal gang, has been sentenced to a decade in prison after pleading guilty to a series of high-profile hacks, including a previously unreported attack on Crypto.com.
According to a Bloomberg report, Urban and an accomplice phished a Crypto.com employee to gain access to user data.
This breach is a classic example of “insider targeting,” where hackers compromise staff credentials to bypass security. While Crypto.com confirmed the leak affected only a small group and no funds were taken, the incident highlights the vulnerability of exchanges to social engineering.
The FBI raided Urban in March 2023, seizing millions in crypto and assets, and arrested him nine months later. His sentencing brings closure to a spree that targeted 13 companies.
