Poland Rolls Out Red Tape for Crypto: Mandatory KNF Licensing Now Required
Reading Time: < 1 minute
Doing crypto business in Poland is about to become heavily regulated. The Polish Sejm has passed the Crypto-Asset Market Act, mandating that every crypto asset service provider (CASP)—from exchanges to custody wallets—must secure a license from the financial watchdog, KNF.
The application process is rigorous, requiring detailed disclosures on corporate structure, capital, risk management, and AML procedures.
This move aligns Polish law with the EU’s MiCA framework but adds sharp teeth, including the threat of multi-million dollar fines and criminal liability for non-compliance.
