Tether’s Billion-Dollar Bet: Stablecoin Giant Amasses Another 8,888 Bitcoin
In a massive display of its ongoing accumulation strategy, Tether has transferred a staggering 8,888 Bitcoin (worth roughly $1 billion) to its corporate treasury wallet. The move, spotted by on-chain analysts, signals a continued aggressive push into the premier cryptocurrency.
On-chain tracking platform Nansen first highlighted the transaction, with data from Arkham Intelligence confirming the destination address as one historically used for Tether’s Bitcoin reserves. The coins were sent from crypto exchange Bitfinex, which is affiliated with Tether.
While the source suggests the possibility of a simple internal transfer, the action aligns perfectly with Tether’s publicly stated policy of converting 15% of its quarterly profits into Bitcoin.
This is the second time this year Tether has moved exactly 8,888 BTC at a quarter’s end, reinforcing a pattern of strategic, scheduled buying.
