Coinbase fielded 12,716 government information requests in a year, a record 19% annual rise. For the first time, most requests (53%) came from outside the US, led by France’s 111% spike.

This surge accompanies Coinbase’s expansion into over 100 nations and increased regulatory oversight. The firm’s report notes the intense global pressure on crypto firms to meet legal duties while protecting privacy.

The US was still the top single requester, followed by Germany, the UK, France, Spain, and Australia. Together, these six nations originated approximately 80% of all global requests.

France experienced the largest increase among major countries at 111%. The UK and Spain also saw rises of 16% and 27%, while Germany, Sweden, and South Korea saw declines.

Requests from Moldova and Brazil surged by 5.7 and 2.7 times respectively. Australia’s request volume, by contrast, saw only a minimal 1% increase.
