Social media platform X has eased its global prohibition on paid crypto and gambling promotions under a new labeling framework, while continuing to restrict such advertisements in select jurisdictions, including the UK, the European Union and Australia.

Under the revised policy, influencers and content creators are responsible for ensuring that paid crypto partnerships are not displayed in markets with tighter financial promotion rules. The move reflects an effort to balance commercial opportunities with compliance obligations in regions that impose stricter oversight on digital asset marketing.

X, formerly known as Twitter, has long served as a central hub for crypto companies, projects and online communities to share updates, launch products and engage with users in real time. The platform’s deep ties to the digital asset sector have made advertising policies in this space particularly consequential.

Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, said the new feature is designed to support entrepreneurs and creators building businesses on the platform, while also reinforcing transparency standards with their audiences.
