Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) signed HB 2749 into law Wednesday, enabling the state to hold unclaimed crypto—rather than liquidate it—and store it in its original form.

The bill, championed by Rep. Jeff Weninger (R-AZ), updates Arizona’s unclaimed property laws to include digital assets, treating them similarly to stocks after three years of inactivity.

Unclaimed crypto must be handed over to the state’s Department of Revenue, and a new reserve fund will manage earnings like staking rewards.
