Swedish MPs Push Bitcoin Reserve to Block CBDC
Two members of Sweden‘s parliament are making a dual-pronged push for financial innovation. Their proposal not only advocates for the government to study the creation of a national Bitcoin reserve but also demands a legislative promise not to introduce a digital krona.
Dennis Dioukarev and David Perez argue that by establishing a Bitcoin treasury, funded potentially by seized crypto assets, Sweden can protect itself from inflation and follow the lead of other nations. Crucially, they see Bitcoin as a bulwark against state-controlled digital money.
By legally forswearing a central bank digital currency, Sweden would signal its commitment to a decentralized financial future and “join the growing group of nations that have recognized the potential of Bitcoin.”
