US investors may soon get access to safer, regulated leveraged trading of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Acting CFTC Chair Caroline Pham has confirmed the agency is working with major exchanges to launch spot crypto trading with margin and leverage.

This would allow retail traders to amplify their bets on direct crypto assets, a practice currently common on risky offshore platforms, but within the supervised framework of established giants like CME and ICE.

The push aims to bring “legislative clarity” and consumer protection to the volatile market by using the agency’s existing powers.
