Decentralized blockchain interoperability solution Wanchain, and Moonbeam, an Ethereum-compatible smart contract platform on the Polkadot network, have just announced the integration of Wanchain’s decentralized, non-custodial cross-chain infrastructure with Moonriver, Moonbeam’s sister network based on the Kusama blockchain.
As a result of this integration, devs will be able to develop decentralized cross-chain apps.
Both Wanchain and Moonbeam believe cross-chain interoperability of assets, data and smart contract calls will lead the next phase of innovation.
Despite cross-chain systems are gaining popularity and adoption, the industry still needs a comprehensive interoperability solution before blockchain can reach its full potential and here is where Wanchain comes into play by connecting Moonriver to the larger cross-chain DeFi world.
Direct bridges connecting Moonriver to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Wanchain, Litecoin, Binance Smart Chain and XRP Ledger are already in force.
Derek Yoo, Founder of Moonbeam, said:
“DeFi activity is growing on many different blockchains, but the lack of integration between these blockchain ecosystems limits the liquidity and traction for many protocols. Wanchain offers bi-directional connectivity options to multiple blockchain ecosystems from Moonriver. This connectivity will provide a rich set of assets to the growing defi ecosystem on Kusama and ultimately Polkadot.”
