Gemini is expanding its presence in the Asia-Pacific region with the opening of a new office in Gurgaon, India.

The office is the second largest Gemini Engineering Center after the United States and will focus on developing a new web and mobile interface, strengthening compliance, security, and payment systems, and creating new feature sets for non-fungible tokens and crypto-assets markets.

As part of this expansion, Pravjit Tiwana has been appointed CEO of Gemini Asia Pacific and will take on new roles in addition to his current position as CTO.

In March, media reports suggested that Gemini was planning to introduce a crypto-derivative platform aimed at the international market and registered outside the United States.

However, in June 2022 the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) filed a lawsuit against the exchange alleging that Gemini had misled the regulator regarding Bitcoin futures contracts.
