Vitalik Buterin Receives Residence Permit in Taiwan
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, was presented with Taiwan’s “golden card”, which provides him unrestricted entry into the country and the privilege of remaining in the country for more than 180 days.
Reacting to this, Buterin noted that he has been to Taiwan multiple times before, and that he appreciates the huge Ethereum community present there.
To celebrate his arrival, the Minister of Digital Technologies, Audrey Tang, presented Buterin with Kuai Kuai snacks, which according to local beliefs, assist in the problem-free running of technology.
Additionally, the minister and co-founder of Ethereum sang an old Taiwanese song for a joyous occasion.
The gold cards, introduced by Taiwan in 2018, provide a maximum desired stay of three years and the opportunity to engage in work activities.
The plan to offer such cards is set to help Taiwan attract highly-skilled workers into sectors that are a priority for the country.
