Two long-inactive Bitcoin wallets holding a combined 20,000 BTC suddenly sprang to life late Thursday night after more than 14 years of dormancy, onchain data reveals.

The movement traces back to an April 3, 2011, transaction in which wallet “1HqXB…gDwcK” sent 23,377.83 BTC to three addresses. Two of these wallets—”12tLs…xj2me” and “1KbrS…AWJYm”—each received 10,000 BTC, while the third took the remaining 3,377.83 BTC, according to Blockchain.com.

While the third wallet spent its funds in 2011, the two holding 10,000 BTC each remained untouched—until now. Within a 30-minute window between late Thursday and early Friday, both wallets transferred their entire balances to new addresses.

Notably, the latest transfers mark the first onchain activity for both addresses since their creation in 2011. The destination wallets have yet to move the newly transferred Bitcoin.
