Bo Hines, the Trump administration’s top crypto advisor, is stepping down from his leadership role on the Presidential Council of Advisers for Digital Assets, per journalist Eleanor Terrett.

Hines, a former college athlete and crypto investor, will be succeeded by his deputy, Patrick Witt—a former Trump-era official who once ran for Congress in Georgia with support from tech billionaire Peter Thiel.

Though Thiel donated to Witt’s campaign, the funds were returned after Witt pivoted to a failed bid for Georgia Insurance Commissioner.

Hines, who confirmed his departure on X, will remain in an advisory capacity, working with White House AI and Crypto czar David Sacks.
