DOJ Drops Indictment Against Roger Ver After $50 Million Tax Settlement

The US government has closed its case against Roger Ver after the crypto figure agreed to a $50 million settlement.
Ver admitted to intentionally failing to disclose his bitcoin assets during his 2014 expatriation, an omission the DOJ says cost the US $16.9 million in taxes. With the payment of back taxes, penalties, and interest, prosecutors have moved to dismiss the indictment.
The deal formalizes a resolution reported last week, ending a legal saga that saw Ver arrested abroad and extradited to face the charges.
