UK Crypto Pioneer Blockchain.com Registers with FCA, Advances Compliance Under New Regime
Blockchain.com, a company with its roots in the United Kingdom dating back more than a decade, has obtained official registration from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to conduct its crypto asset business domestically.
In a Tuesday statement, the firm outlined that the FCA registration authorizes it to deliver specific cryptocurrency services, such as brokerage and custody solutions, alongside services tailored for institutional clients.
This UK regulatory milestone builds upon the firm’s previous acquisition of a MiCA license for the European Economic Area, secured last year. Peter Smith, the founder and CEO of Blockchain.com, commented on the strategic importance, saying, “We are committed to working hand-in-hand with the FCA and UK policymakers as they shape the permanent regulatory framework, ensuring the UK remains a global leader in financial innovation.”
Although the registration allows for an expanded operational footprint in the UK market, the company clarified it is still progressing toward achieving full authorization under the UK’s new permanent regulatory framework for crypto assets, which is scheduled to take effect in 2027.
