Coinbase has completed its integration of Deribit, giving eligible US customers a regulated route into the exchange’s global market for crypto options and perpetual futures.

The integration brings Deribit’s derivatives liquidity into Coinbase’s platform, with US institutional clients able to access the products through Coinbase Prime and Coinbase Financial Markets. The latter operates under the oversight of the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).

Coinbase said the move follows CFTC guidance issued in May that allowed its regulated derivatives business to connect US customers with global crypto derivatives markets. The company said derivatives account for about 80% of global crypto trading volume.

Options trading through Coinbase Prime is expected to start in the coming weeks. Coinbase plans to extend options access to eligible non-US retail customers before making the products available to US retail traders later this year.
