OCC review identifies crypto-related banking restrictions

Some US banks restricted financial services for digital asset businesses, citing concerns about financial crime, according to a review by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).
The regulator said certain banks had formal and informal policies limiting services for several industries, including crypto, oil and gas, tobacco and firearms. The review followed a 2025 executive order by President Donald Trump targeting what he described as unlawful debanking.
However, the OCC did not identify specific cases involving crypto companies. Its review of nine major banks also failed to establish the full extent of actual or alleged debanking.
