The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is reviewing public feedback on its proposed crypto rules as Congress has yet to establish a broader framework for digital asset regulation.

The SEC’s 60-day consultation on its “Regulation Crypto Assets” proposal closes on Tuesday. Introduced in August, the proposal aims to clarify rules for certain investment contracts involving crypto assets. The agency received around 140 submissions, including comments on a proposed safe harbour for token issuers and exemptions for smaller offerings.

The MiCA Crypto Alliance largely backed the proposed changes to disclosure requirements. It also urged the SEC to define crypto-specific concepts, data structures and disclosure obligations more clearly.
