Mastercard has introduced a tool to help banks and payment providers identify potentially risky stablecoin transactions before funds move onchain.

Announced on Monday at the Money20/20 USA conference, Stablecoin Security combines payment data with blockchain analytics to flag suspected fraud, scams, sanctions exposure and other financial crime risks. Borderless.xyz and Keyrails are the first partners, with global commercial availability expected in 2027.

The tool generates a risk score before a payment is completed, allowing financial institutions to flag transactions for further review. Mastercard’s latest move follows its acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure provider BVNK and the launch of a Global Money Platform for business payments.
