Tether has led a pre-seed funding round in Bolivian fintech Peso to expand its USDT payment infrastructure across Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia and Argentina. The investment amount was not disclosed.
Peso connects USDT with local currencies through banking and merchant payment networks. In Bolivia, it has integrated USDT payments into Yango’s food delivery service and offers QR payments, merchant point-of-sale services and virtual accounts linked to the banking system.
The investment follows a partnership announced by lending platform Tala and digital wallet El Dorado on Tuesday to offer loans that eligible customers can receive and repay in USDT on the Tempo blockchain.
