A white hat hacker has stolen $8 million from cross-chain decentralized protocol THORChain and has reportedly asked the project for a 10% reward for finding the bug that has made the attack possible, Cointelegraph reports.

According to THORChain, the hacker has stolen ETH from the project. As a result of the attack, Ether will be suspended in the project until its code is audited and the bug is removed.

The liquidity providers affected by the attack will receive a compensation from project’s treasury funds.

The hacker has reportedly contacted the project through transaction data. The attacker said:

“Do not rush code that controls 9 figures and disable until audits are complete.”

The white hat hacker also claims they could have stolen many other cryptos, not just Ether, stating that they could have stolen Ether, Bitcoin, Binance Coin, Lycancoin, and many BEP-20 tokens.

A week ago it become known THORChain had suffered another hacker attack in which the project had lost $7.7M.
