ConsenSys has just bought the ETH wallet operator MyCrypto. According to ConsenSys’ CEO Joseph Lubin, the MyCrypto team will join the MetaMask development effort. He has said:

“We are very excited to bring the @MyCrypto team to @MetaMask! The two teams have been friends and Ethereum colleagues with shared values since 2016. Together we will continue to build increasingly user-centric, extensible, and decentralized products.”

The parties have not disclosed the financial terms of the deal. The Ethereum wallet team of 12 will join ConsenSys. MyCrypto founder Taylor Monahan will co-lead MetaMask with co-founders Dan Finlay and Aaron Davis.

According to the press release, MyCrypto devs will not stop supporting their product in the near future — it will continue to exist independently of MetaMask. However, the ultimate goal is to “combine features and brands.”
