The Swiss city of Lugano will make Bitcoin, Tether (USDT) and the city’s LVGA token “de facto” legal tender, as announced during the Plan ₿ conference with the participation of Lugano Mayor Michele Foletti and CTO Tether Paolo Ardoino.

The event has confirmed the city’s plans to become a European blockchain hub. The authorities of the country plan to implement relevant programs in the field of education, taking into account the presence of three universities and mining. Income from crypto mining will be directed to the development of urban infrastructure.

At the conference, it was also announced the “World Bitcoin Forum” would be held in Lugano in October this year.

The University of Lugano and the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland created in 2020 the Blockchain Technologies Association to support and develop blockchain.
