Chainalysis has reported that North Korean hackers had stolen more than $1.7 billion worth of cryptocurrencies in 2022.

In response to this, US and other authorities have imposed sanctions against the Lazarus group, the most extensive cybercrime organization.

To freeze and subsequently confiscate these digital currencies, Western special services and crypto exchanges, such as Binance, agreed to work together.

Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao went on to reveal that $5.8 million worth of digital assets linked to the DPRK were blocked by his company.

Additionally, the US law enforcement seized $4.4 million worth of these digital assets.
