Metaplanet Doubles Down on Bitcoin with $239M Purchase

Metaplanet, Japan’s leading Bitcoin investment firm, has further cemented its commitment to BTC with a $238.7 million purchase of 2,205 coins. The move increases its total holdings to 15,555 BTC, keeping it firmly in fifth place among corporate Bitcoin holders.

CEO Simon Gerovich revealed the acquisition was made at an average price of $108,237 per BTC, signaling strong conviction despite recent market volatility. The company’s Bitcoin-centric business model continues to thrive, with Q2 revenue surging 42.4% YoY to 1.1 billion yen ($7.6 million).

With a newly announced target of 210,000 BTC by 2027, Metaplanet is positioning itself as a major player in institutional Bitcoin adoption, though it still lags far behind MicroStrategy’s 597,325 BTC.
