Bitget confirms $387.5 million security breach

Bitget has confirmed that $387.5 million in crypto was transferred to attacker-controlled addresses after a security breach on 24 September.

The exchange said the attacker compromised a backend system in its wallet infrastructure and used it to bypass existing authorisation controls. Withdrawals were suspended after the transfers were detected.

The revised figure includes Zcash and Tron assets that were not included in the initial $351.6 million estimate. Bitget said its cold wallets and private keys were not affected.
