The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has proposed a new framework for crypto trading platforms after the Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act.
The proposals would create a federal path for exchanges offering leveraged and margined crypto products. CFTC Chair Michael Selig said the agency would use its existing authority to move forward with the framework.
The proposals cover retail crypto transactions and introduce a new category of exchange for platforms offering these products.
