MSCI adopts index exclusion rules that could oust Strategy

Index provider MSCI has approved rules that could remove Strategy, Metaplanet and Upexi from its global indexes by excluding companies classified as non-operating businesses.
The methodology, announced on Thursday, follows a proposal published in August. MSCI also placed Sharplink, Ton Strategy Company, Solana Company and DeFi Development Corp. on a watchlist for possible removal.
The changes could prompt funds tracking MSCI indexes to sell affected shares, reducing passive investment demand and potentially weighing on stock prices.
